I leave this topic with a last question, I would be glad if someone answer it: where exactly is the problem besides my poor video driver? Of course my SiS video card have 90% of the blame, but OpenOffice (even the newest one), Calligra and WPS Office graphically works well in my computer, why LibreOffice is graphically buggy (although this very same LibreOffice works well in Mandriva 2010.2 in my computer)? I would understand it if LibreOffice is made in GTK, but seems it has its own GUI Toolkit, which is VCL, and LibreOffice works well in Mandriva 2010. Anyway, as I've said, I truly am happy with OpenOffice 3.4.1. But seems the effort is a bit bigger, if it's possible to use LibreOffice in my computer. I tried to use LibreOffice because of I thought: "if there is a possibility to have LibreOffice, why not make a litter effort for having it?". I only wanted to have LibreOffice for having a new suite software, not for an actual necessity, and also - as even OpenOffice 4 is a bit heavyweight for my computer (I don't know why, I confess that my computer is old, it's a 2009 laptop, but it is 4GB RAM and 1.86GHz Dual-Core) - I fear having success in using LibreOffice, but it be heavyweight for a comfortable use.

I am happy with OpenOffice 3.4.1 (I write my books and make my academic works in it without any problem) and when I need open a MSOffice file I have WPS Office (and also MSOffice 2010 in my Windows partition). Thank you very much for the help, guys, I've apreciated it a lot, but I'll forget this problem. The solution I thought was forcing LibreOffice to use QT or an old version of GTK (as LibreOffice perfectly works in a 2010 distro, we can see that it doesn't requires a new version of QT or GTK), I've tried to use variables like SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN or OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP, but it didn't worked.

As LibreOffice itself is not the problem, I only can blame GTK, which requires more resources that my video driver can offer. The support for my video card has got worse.I only can think in two reasons of why Mandriva 2010.2 didn't have this graphical issues, but PCLinuxOS has them:

I don't use this old version of Mandriva because of I really have many difficulties to install new programs in it. Well, the most interesting fact is that LibreOffice (even the newest versions!!!!) runs perfectly in Mandriva 2010.2, I even hadn't graphical problems with desktop enviroments in Mandriva 2010.2. I also notice I have very much more problems with GTK programs than with QT programs. Fortunatelly this kind of problem rarely occurs in LXQt. I confess that some parts of some desktop enviroments get graphically buggy, like the icons in the system tray. What's the problem? In the new PCLinuxOS (and Mageia too) the texts in LibreOffice get graphically buggy, when I move the page upwards or downwards the text gets messed, not the text itself (the information), but the graphics that draws the words.īut look, Apache OpenOffice works well, I can say the same for web browsers (although sometimes some small pieces of text get graphically buggy, but it definitely doesn't muddle the experience) Calligra (although I only could run Calligra Words/Author in the brazilian version of PCLinuxOS), all text editors I've tested, etc. Correct screen resolution and possibility to watch videos is not possible in distros out of this family, at least not for my video card. Hello, good people, the SiS video cards don't have a good support in GNU/Linux systems, actually if the Mandriva family (Mandriva, Mageia, PCLinuxOS.) doesn't exist, I would never properly use GNU/Linux in my laptop. That's why I don't created this topic in the "Laptop Hardware" forum. It's not a topic asking for a better video card driver, since I don't have many options and I don't think the problem is exclusively with my weak video card driver.
